The corded classic, refreshed. Still the most reliable powerful vibe on the market.

My take

The Magic Wand Plus is the toy I recommend when someone says "I've never owned a real vibrator and I don't want to spend a fortune." It's the modernized Hitachi. Same shape, same iconic head, same reliable wall-powered hum — but with a soft silicone head, four power levels instead of two, and a slightly slimmer handle.

Is it the most powerful wand on the market? No — the Doxy is. Is it quiet? Also no — it's a wand, it sounds like a small appliance. Does it work? Almost universally. In ten years of recommending toys to friends, this is the one with the lowest "wait, this isn't really doing it for me" return rate.

If you've never owned a wand and you're not sure if "big plug-in wand" is going to be too much, this is the one to start with. If you have owned a wand and you're chasing more, the Doxy answers that. The Magic Wand Plus is the default for a reason: it works.

What I liked
  • Iconic for a reason
  • Massive head, deep rumble
  • Cheaper than the rechargeable
What I didn’t
  • Tethered to a wall
  • Loud
